The Good News Automation was developed over a decade ago, as a computer based controller for all the various play-back machines in a radio control room. But the system went beyond basic controlling, and decoded the sub-audible tones transmitted over a satellite network. Armed with the tone information, the system was able to 'man the station' for days on end, for a real walk-a-way operation. A number of these systems are still earning their keep, controlling various radio stations around the country.

But times are changing, and technology is on the move. About three years ago, work was started on a new automation system, one that would use the marvelous capability of digital audio. The Good News Digital Automation System is the result. Building upon the time tested concepts of the earlier system, the new AUTO runs on Windows 95/98, and utilizes the latest advances of digital audio stored on a hard drive.
